We believe…

  • Equines bring explicit, intrinsic and economic value to New York, including physical and mental health benefits to individuals who have access to interact with them.

  • Value and impact of horses in New York is largely unrecognized by elected officials and general public; increasing recognition is essential for sustainability of the industry.

  • There is a need to encourage and expand access to equines so that more individuals have the opportunity to connect and interact with them.

  • There are current barriers to widespread access that can be addressed through coordinated efforts in equine promotion, connection, education.

Together we can accelerate the success and growth of the NYS Equine Industry through delivery of promotion, connection and education activities and materials that strengthen existing initiatives and launch efforts to reach new audiences and markets.

Meet Karin & Tim

Karin and Tim live in Cazenovia, NY, with a pack of 5 dogs (mostly rescues all named after candy bars – #thecandybarpups). Their two oldest kids are in the land of professionals living in the southern states of Alabama and Tennessee. Their youngest is a student at Northeastern University in Boston.

Professionally they are involved with an eclectic mix of businesses, organizations and ventures. In addition to Saddle Up NY!, they operate Carter’s Pond Jewelry, an early hobby that turned into a full blown business venture; founded/led an international 501C3 non-profit for equine academic professionals (National Association of Equine Affiliated Academics-NAEAA); built several consulting, informational and education businesses, including Equine Academics, Right Program 4 U, and the Equine Education Network ( in partnership with the EQUUS Foundation); and they conduct presentations across the United States on a variety of equine related topics. Both serve in professional and advisory capacities on various equine related boards, organizations and committees.
